Mood Lighting
Mood lighting is nothing new to us but have we taken the time to create it for ourselves? If not, a great place to start is in the master bedroom!
It is still ok to turn your bed on a diagonal even if your room is small as long as you can open the closet and get to the dresser and bathroom.
- Turn your bed on a diagonal
- You can purchase bamboo sticks from your local international store or you can use silk palm trees for an exotic feel. If you are more traditional or country, you can use ficus trees to get the same effect.
- Purchase 2 uplights and place them on the floor behind at the bed at each end pointing in to the center.
- Treat yourself to an organic feel by using a linen or microfiber bed dressing. You will feel like you are in a far away location. Try to keep the prints to pillows and windowcoverings. You will find yourself looking absolutely aglow and in the mood.
- Or you can opt for the romantic ambiance of florals and satin.
- Adding dimmer switches in all the rooms is another way to get your mood lighting. During the winter months when days are so short, showing your house in the evening hours is quite common and although you want your house well lit, it is a nice feature to be able to adjust the lighting in the walk-throughs.
- And don't forget the candles...small inexpensive votive candles give off the same shimmer as a $20 column candle.
What ever
you choose, don't choose what you have always done...take a leap and
create a space that you would pay $400 a night for.
