When
I found this photo in a magazine a few years ago, I thought to myself “what a
great use of a wall for kids…I want that in my home someday!”Well,
I raised my 2 boys before I ever got around to adding it but don’t
forget when you are selling a family style home, that a climbing wall
like this could be the “wow” factor needed to sell your home.
If
you should be fortunate enough to have a wall available in your family
style home, I would suggest that you add a feature for
families with children.I bought a house when I was young because I loved the entry wallpaper and the split-levels.What
I didn’t notice or care about was there wasn't even a back door and the main
rooms were all up on the top floor surrounded by windows and it got
very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter…but I didn’t care
because I loved the wallpaper!
So
think about a specific feature that you can add to your property that
most people only dream about but never quite get there…it sells
Don’t Ignore the Secondary Rooms…they could be the deciding WOW factor that sells your home.
How
easy it would be to roll in a picket fence and frame the room (do not
attach) with a rustic feeling bed-in-the-bag bed covering.Done!
If
you don’t add a peak the top of the lattice, this feature would be very
easy to reproduce in a weekend and wow! It has the mix and match
patterns that work so well with a garden theme and you can find them
ready to go in your department store or from a catalog.
This addition would be a huge improvement to a secondary room just by adding a sliding door and a brick surround
(Even a wood fence would work) gravel ground you would be adding a play yard for the kids, while adding visually and physically more living space!
Add a patio room if your house is small...
Yes, it is far less expensive to create a wonderful new space that distracts from what might be lacking elsewhere. Flee market finds in eclectic patterns and finishes are a charming way to occupy an otherwise dead space. Can an outdoor room like this sell your home? You bet! Especially to young romantics who feel they can do anything as long as they have one great space to hang out in.
How about a wall just for the kids?
Why not! It is easy to do and fun for everyone. Your hardware store has blackboard paint in green or black for about $3.00 a can. If you have a useless wall in your house or basement it is a great conversation piece that will stick in the home buyers mind.
